Life Sized Pistol Tacticool Version

   After I finished my last post I got to thinking, "How could I improve on this gun?" Well I found a way. By over-taccing it I finally have my dream pistol. Now I just need to make a laser, stock and folding handgrip and it will be out of the realm of tacticool and into the realm of plain ridiculousness.

The full build in all it's glory! I added silencer, extended mag and reflex sight along with various other cosmetic changes.

First up. Extended mag for 15 more rounds of pew.

Reflex sight. My personal favourite addition, this turned out exactly like I had pictured it.

Silencer. It's more of a bloc silencer than a round one, I think those look cooler anyway. Since it's only held in by a technic rod it's a little unstable.

Life Sized Pistol

   Maybe I'm out of practice but this thing was a pain to build. I literally gave up on it when it was still just the handle, then came back ten seconds later.

It's quite large, akin to the Desert Eagle or 1911.

Flashlight.

That trigger guard is a brace for the handle. So is that bump on the back and there's more support inside. And the handle's still a little weak.

The removable mag! This is what started the gun. It looks simple but it took me multiple tries. It's held in place with simple friction but it's solid.

The front sight. I wanted to make a reflex sight but quit after the second try.

It's fairly comfortable but kind of sharp in places.

APC

   It's been awhile since I tried my hand at an APC. This was inspired by lego APCs I've seen which were in turn inspired by the APC in the movie Aliens.

My only gripe is the fact that there are no mudguards.

The front. I knew I was going to tilt the windshield.

 

The sideways opening door. They have to kind of duck their head to get out.

 

I'm real happy with this remote controlled MG. Usually I don't build armament on my vehicles.

I took the roof off for this pic. As you can see it's a little cramped but there's room for four guys to sit down and one guy to stand up. The black helmet belongs to the MG/radio operator.

Now to show off some improvements to my other builds. First are the new boosters for my dropship.

And the folding landing gear and nose mounted gun.

 

And for my heavy mech I added two more guns under the nose and tacced out his two miniguns.

Little Things.

   I was working on a hidden UAV base a few days ago that I scrapped about a third of the way through. I'd bitten off more than I could chew so I left it. I did save the UAV and a bit of the cliffside that I'm showing here. 

The bit of cliff. Yes, the rat can fit down the tunnel though it gets stuck at the bottom. I really like this for it's clean lines and simple but cool look.

100th Post!

   This post will be listing my top ten builds I've posted on my blog. A lot of reading ahead so be ready. I'll be doing these roughly in chronological order.

 

This was the third or fourth incarnation of one of my favorite builds. When I first built this about 2 or 3 years ago I can say that it was the first build I'd actually felt really proud about.

 

 

My first good vehicle! This was a post apoc APC that was too small for a minifig to fit in. However it still represented a huge leap forward in my lego building skills and inspired me to build more cars.

 

 

Another vehicle! This one even better! Let me tell you that I would never have built this if I didn't think it would have turned out good. Too many fail Warthogs out there. But I think this turned out much better than 99% of the lego Warthogs online.

 

 

What can I say about this. This is one of my more awesome looking creations because it's so thin and clean and sleek. I think I went a bit overboard on that bent nose though.

 

 

To be honest I usually hate building anything out of lego especially buildings but this was different. I enjoyed the build process immensely and the end result looks great. So this is one of my more favourite builds in this post.

 

 

If I had to pick a favourite build out of these top ten I think this would be it. This beautiful beast went through modification after modification before it became this. Overall it's one of my most realistic builds. With a full minifig scale interior (minus driver's seat) it's very true to the real thing.

 

 

This is definitely my biggest build at just over 100 studs long (incuding the exhaust cone). While not my prettiest build it deserves a spot for it's awe inspiring immensity, at least among my other creations. It also has a full interior.

 

 

One of only two builds from this post that are still set up (the other being my Warthog) this dropship is probably the most detailed vehicle I have ever done. A few days ago I put two jet engines on the back as well.

 

 

This is the creation that started me building buildings again. It's quite simplistic and small but I like it since it's clean and neat.

 

 

And last but certainly not least, my biggest building build to date, my suburban town! I still can't believe the detail I was able to put in especially in the two apartments. Also how I was able to put good roofs on all the buildings.

 

 

     

 

 

Assault Mech

   This started as a scout mech 2.0 then morphed into a enclosed cockpit AT-RT and then turned into this. Since almost all my mechs turn out super fragile I reinforced this wherever possible.

It's nowhere near as fast as the Scout mech but way more durable.

You pretty much pour the minifig into the cockpit.

I bulked up the legs as much as possible.

The right arm has two mounted miniguns.

The left arm has a powerful fist to smash through barriers. It is also an electromagnet to lift metal rubble out of the way.

Town.

   So I spent about 4 or 5 hours on this and I think it has some of my best building work.

I whipped up a small scene to showcase it, what's happening is a bunch of townspeople are being executed because the Coalition heard of an insurrection being planned in this area.

 

 

Why don't they just mow them down with the machinegun you ask? Because that would be a massacre. Giving them all one shot to the back of the head is an "execution".

Now on to the build. I'll be doing this in the order of how I built it. To start off we have a modest downstairs apartment. It has a bed, computer and kitchenette. There's also more past the bed but I didn't build that.

On to the big house. This is the living room. It has a picture window behind the couch.

But there is this room with a very big bed. There's more to this house too, I just couldn't build it.

And the last building of all. A very old fashioned church.

 

All in all this was a extremely satisfying build and I enjoyed every bit of it. I took inspiration from a 60s TV show called Combat! and a lego film I once saw.
