The Rat Patrol

A few years when I was 10 or 11 and still in my WWII craze my mom brought to my attention a television series on Netflix called The Rat Patrol. It's not there anymore (Netflix has a way of taking things down) but while they were there it was an obsession. Imagine a bunch of mini war films and a 10 year old who's obsessed with WWII and that's pretty much how it was. It cooled down about the time I got into Legos but it was still there enough so that when I built that jeep I thought, "this would make a great rat patrol jeep". And so yesterday I built a second one, made up some minifigs, and here you go.

                                                                THE RAT PATROL

Sgt. Sam Troy a.k.a. Sarge

A tough no-nonsense kind of guy he is the team commander. Although smart enough to become an officer he declines the offer preferring to be able to remain in combat. Completely insensitive to anyone's feelings but his own he is not my favorite character.

Sgt. Jack Moffat

A cheery British Sergeant, Moffat is the smart guy  on the team. He has college degrees in "odds and ends" as he puts and his knowledge of the desert enables him to get the team out of several hot spots. He has the dry humor of a Brit which is odd since he is the one who get's captured and tortured the most. I guess the script writers had something against the British.

Pvt. Mark Hitchock a.k.a. Hitch

A real ladies man Hitch is the kind of kid who grew up in a 50 room mansion in the Beverly Hills.  He is nevertheless a good driver and Troy's closest friend and ally.
Pvt.  Tully Pettigrew
Once you get past the tough guy cliches of not talking much and firing big guns Tully is one of the most awesome things about this entire television show. He is deliciously random and says the most inane things at inappropriate times. He is also a extremely good driver having acquired his skills while moonshining in the south.

Capt.  Hans Dietrich

The best thing about the entire show is Dietrich. His apparent invulnerability, cunning plans and calm demeanor even when captured makes him a villain on par with Ratigan And the Red Skull. Seen with him are two of his men who will more likely than not end up bleeding their guts into the sand while their vehicle burns behind them and Dietrich watches from a hill. (I'm not kidding that's how 95% of the episodes end up.
Overall the Rat Patrol is an awesome but underrated TV series that is well worth your time. I had a lot of fun writing this post and I hope you had fun reading it.
